Our Goal: To bring mobility to the disadvantage and disabled through out the world by collecting and refurbishing wheel chairs and returning them to service

• With a history of giving over 1900 chairs in ten years Chariots is committed to fulfilling its mission of meeting the mobility needs of those in need around the world
• Yearly we collect approximately 260 chairs from individuals, nursing homes, group homes and special events. Once a year on the first Saturday of May with the cooperation of the CT State Police using their barracks, we sponsor 1000 Wheels Day as a statewide collection program.
• Chariots of Hope has an office and repair/collection center in Bloomfield. It is the hub of our repair program, collection and distribution activities. Currently the Dept of Corrections is doing most of the repairs through their 'in house' program, proving to be a benefit to all involved.

Primary Needs:

• Cost of maintaining a location to coordinate the critical components of collecting, repairing and distributing chairs to those in need. Yearly expense: $12,000
• A part time development staff assistant for one year. Currently we have no paid staff; we are an all volunteer organization. Yearly expense: $25,000
• Trailer to be attached to personal vehicles for collection of chairs. Cost: $5,000
• Electric hoist and ladder to store chairs in 2 upper levels of the repair center. Cost: $1,500 [Equipment and installation]

With over 20 million individuals in our world who need and cannot obtain or purchase a wheelchair, we at Chariots of Hope feel compelled to expand our services and program. Personal testimonies from persons we have helped are both heart warming and challenging to us. It is so obvious that our goal and mission is right and meeting the mark.
